<p>James Westby is an award-winning filmmaker from Portland, Oregon who has established himself as a smart and original storyteller with a twisted sense of humor. He writes, edits and directs features, commercials and music videos.</p> <p>Westby’s 2006 feature<em>,</em>“Film Geek” about an obsessively passionate video store clerk was distributed by First Run Features and called “perceptively hilarious” by Entertainment Weekly.</p> <p>His next feature film, “The Auteur”, a sweet romantic comedy about the world’s greatest porn director, premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival and gained a worldwide cult following. </p> <p>In 2011, Westby directed, edited and wrote the black comedy “Rid of Me”, which also premiered at Tribeca, with the <em>New York Times </em>calling it “an ingenious black comedy.” It won Best Narrative Feature at Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival and was acquired by Phase 4 Films; it will premiere on Showtime in July 2012. </p> <p>James Westby’s commercial work – including lively spots for Adidas and the University of Oregon, bring his unique vision to the advertising world. He has also directed music videos for Storm Large (“8 Miles Wide”), Oracle (“Wake”), and many others. </p>
