Serial entrepreneur in manufacturing, design, and technology

My first job (other than mowing the lawn) was as a caddy, where I learned about courtesy and paying close attention. My second job was selling men's clothes, where I learned about....well....selling, and also about how important it is to satisfy a customer. In my third job, I was a working musician. After that...serial entrepreneur, beginning with 15 years in a design-oriented manufacturing business (see www.talabastudio.com, for a blast from the past), and ending up in various executive positions.

As it turned out, being courteous, paying attention, selling, and satisfying customers were very, very good lessons. I was a small-business owner for 15 years. Since then, I've been a Marketing Director, a VP Marketing & Sales, and most recently the CEO of two software companies.

Our current enterprise – The Gabriel Institute – is dedicated to 'making the workplace a better place to work', and you know, I think it's working. As Margaret Mead said: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

I joined TGI's Advisory Board in January of 2009, initially to apply my experience as a tech company CEO to untangle some software development issues. Within a few months, I was rewriting TGI’s business plan, and soon after that I started working on acquisition of growth funding, business systems development, and the overhaul of marketing, sales, and partnering strategies. This much involvement was – to say the least – atypical for a Board member, but I was driven by a passion to make Teamability™, TGI’s visionary ‘technology of teaming’, better known and readily available.
