She studied acting at NYU’s prestigious Tisch School of Arts, While there, she began to articulate the theme of her work: the illegitimate attempt to gain legitimacy through works, grace, and the gift of access. She graduated with honors BFA in theatre & religious studies. Mavis owns Rose Films, a film company dedicated to exploring the female experience.
