I have a passion for entrepreneurship and have spent the majority of my working life developing and supporting the development of exciting and innovative projects.

In 1982, shortly after graduating from the University of Waterloo with a BSc. in Kinesiology, I founded Special Health Systems, a company that designed, manufactured and distributed specialized seating systems for individuals dependent on wheelchairs for mobility. Our seating system was the top ranked pressure relief cushion in Canada, and within the top three in the US, with distribution throughout North America and Europe. The company successfully grew to 85 employees when it sold in 1995 to Invacare Corp of Elyria, Ohio.

From 1996 to 2008 I switched gears, moving into an unfamiliar industry, and started Qolmesa Alpaca, a successful alpaca breeding farm located in central Ontario. In 2004, during my sojourn as a farmer, I co-founded Alpaca Ontario an association for the newly emerging alpaca breeding industry in Eastern Canada.

Currently, I provide consultation to entrepreneurial start up companies, supporting them in facilitating visionary goals and strategic planning.
Although my work frequently requires me to be at a desk, I manage to lead an incredibly active lifestyle, participating in many sports such as mountain biking, snow boarding, and tennis. In 2008 I completed the Lake Placid IronMan competition. Because of my history in the seating industry and my own active lifestyle I have a keen interest in health, fitness and ergonomics and the need for accessible alternatives to a sedentary lifestyle.
