Travel through the darkness to find the light.

I'm an independent filmmaker in San Jose, CA. My short films have been in film festivals nationwide and I've won several screenwriting awards. I directed a 30-minute documentary that was used to change the way remedial English students are treated on CSU campuses in terms of placement testing. I also interviewed Tommie Smith and John Carlos, the historic Olympic athletes, and that interview ended up in a documentary distributed by Paramount Pictures called "Salute."

Film is my life. I have dedicated my every effort to it. And about a year ago, when an amazing young woman named Elisabeth came into my life, I found myself very compelled to make this documentary "Journey Through Fire." I believe it to be the most important thing I have ever done so far.

I believe that what marks all of my work is searing honesty. I attempt not to shy away from darker aspects, believing only full exposure into the light can take us away from the darkest elements of life. We must be compassionate -- but we must also never be afraid to speak. Staying silent about uncomfortable things is how apathy and harmful behavior are condoned.

I co-own Siren Song Creations, a film studio and media services company in the Bay Area. We offer client video, photography, narrative consultancy, graphic design, and web design services to clients -- and use those funds to make our own emotionally resonant original films.
