Pearl Marill

San Francisco, California, United States

I am an actress, dancer, and choreographer. I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Theater Arts, where I received the Priscilla Newton Scholarship Award for Outstanding Work in The Arts. I attended the American Dance Festival in Durham, North Carolina, and trained at American Conservatory Theater, Bay Area Theater Sports (BATS) in San Francisco, as well as Upright Citizen's Brigade in Los Angeles. In San Francisco, my work has been shown at various nightclubs including the DNA lounge, Club Infusion, and the stud, and at a variety of performing arts venues and festivals, including The Garage, Shotwell Studios, The Women on the Way Festival, StageDor, the traveling Jewish theater, CounterPulse, ODC’s Pilot program, and in ODC’s House Special program. A runner up in the acclaimed AWARD show at ODC Theater in January, 2012, I was awarded a grant from the Boeng Foundation/Joyce Soho Theater to create new work. My work lies in observing and recreating the often awkward and comedic moments of human interaction and relationships, through theater improvisation, original scripts, short films, and dance performances.

"Pearl Marill is a choreographer with a future. Her movement and

presentation ideas combine to keep the audience both intrigued and

outrightly amused by her stories…that range from the silly to the sublime..."
