My paternal grandma was Dr. Adele Sicular (1899-1976), the subject of our musical documentary theater piece "J. EDGAR KLEZMER: Songs from My Grandmother's FBI Files." I have produced seven albums by my bands, Metropolitan Klezmer octet & Isle of Klezbos sextet. In 2003, applying on a hunch, I obtained 59 pages of declassified documents detailing government surveillance of my grandma in the 1940s. After more family & archival research, in 2008 I began to write music & lyrics based on her story.
