Who are these Kingston Neighborhood Watch People?
We're you! We are your friends and neighbors and fellow citizens of Kingston, New York. The people that you see every day in your neighborhood. Nothing special. No training. We don't have an ulterior motive or agenda except for one thing:

We want our Kingston Neighborhoods to be Safe!
One mission. One motivation. One ideal. That's it.
We believe in the adage that it does take a village. We believe that it's not enough to know about a problem, worry about a problem or talk about a problem. We believe that actions speak louder than words. We believe that sometimes doing something, however small, can really make a difference. We believe that we are all in this together. We believe that a lot of other people think these things too and are willing to do what they can to help.

Can Anyone Say They Want their City Streets to be Unsafe?
Maybe, but we are counting on that not happening. The innate goodness of human beings and all, plus a great sense of optimism and hope and a fondness for the place we call home. Honestly, we just don't want to worry about our kids walking home from school. We don't want to get nervous when we hear sirens close to home.

Watching Each Others Backs
We teach our kids that if they see something bad happening that they have a responsibility to step up. We have to practice what we preach. We figure that the people who are doing things that make Kingston unsafe don't want people to know who they are. Other Neighborhood Watch Programs have shown that the bad elements will be discouraged if they know people care enough to watch them. Neighborhood Watches do work, and they have before in Kingston, but there is not a strong visible presence now. So, we are just trying to step up and fill a need the only way we can, the only way we know how. It's not going to be perfect, but that's why we are asking for help.

Kingston Neighborhood Watch; Open, Honest, Transparent
We have filed for nonprofit status with the State of New York. Since there have been other Neighborhood Groups in Kingston, the legal name is registered as;

Neighborhood Watch Groups of Kingston, New York, Inc.

We would like to have a small Board of Directors representing all the main areas of Kingston. This did originally begin as a response from neighbors in Uptown Kingston as a result of the attack 2-20-2010 on a neighbor, a local Kingston woman, robbed and beaten. At the overwhelming response of the City, the movement has snowballed. As the need is so most obviously there and many more people than we could have imagined do care, we are trying to meet that need and go city wide. Right now we need folks to represent at a minimum, midtown and downtown Kingston.

The current Board of Directors is as follow:

Michael D'Arcy
John Dowley
Claudia Corrigan D'Arcy
Teresa Pleva

We still have to draw up by-laws, and a code of ethics. You know the troublesome happenings, the concerns. We are here to facilitate the community connections between us all any way we can. To centralize the communication and build the support systems. To help create and expand the neighborhood relationships in the City of Kingston.

Let's Help each other and watch each other's backs.
