<p>Hawaii Stream Academy is founded and managed by Anakonia Matsumoto. She was adopted from Seoul, Korea at the age of five months old and brought up in a Hawaiian household with Hawaiian being her first language. Growing up in a family of educators, she has realized the importance of a strong educational foundation and chose to pursue education as her career path. Ms. Matsumoto has been in the education field since 2000 and has held both teacher and administrator leadership roles. Throughout the years, her passion for helping children succeed has grown tremendously and her shift to early childhood as a focus came as she learned that Hawaii's children are falling farther and farther behind when compared to others nationally. The need for strong early childhood programs are great and her passion and drive to fulfill the need comes straight from her growing desire to see Hawaii's children succeed.</p> <p>Her business and education experience will ensure a great investment and overall success of the venture. STEM education has become a national focus from politicians to parents with the emphasis to create a more scientifically and technologically literate society so students can compete in a global economy in the future. We will focus on more than STEM with the integration of the Arts and Reading making our approach STREAM, because all research shows that a student who is proficient in reading and has been exposed to a creative problem solving critical thinking approach will be more successful in school and life.&nbsp; Ana will provide a strong and solid background to make Hawaii Stream Academy more than a success, but a future learning model for education locally, nationally and globally.</p>
