Nanny Extraordinaire
I've been working with children for over half my lifetime, since I wasn't more than a child myself actually. As a little girl, I was always seen holding a babydoll (while wearing red patent leather shoes, of course). At 10 years old, my little sister was born, and for a brief time I was "Mama" to her as well as our mother. At age 11, my neighbor had a baby and I started, almost immediately afterwards, as a mother's helper. At 12, I was sitting on my own for a 2 year old and an infant and haven't stopped sitting since. This wasn't my plan, but the babies find me wherever I go. After my move to San Francisco, and a brief attempt at a 'real' job (one that pays for health insurance), I again began babysitting, which quickly turned into full blown nannying, with more families in need than I, myself, could handle. How did I go from one family to thirteen-plus in less than 6 months? Word of mouth. Mommies want to know who their fellow mommy friends use, because they trust their choices. Likewise, if I had to turn down a babysitting date, the parent who requested it would ask if I had any friends I'd recommend. I spent quite a bit of time coordinating jobs for friends and knew there was a way to make it more efficient for all parties. the Sitter Spot was an idea I had had for a while, but manifested after meeting Michael. I had found a need, had an idea on how to fulfill it, but little experience with developing a business. The latter just so happens to be Michael's forte, and he is someone always looking to get in on the next successful business. <div><br></div><div>I've gone off track and my 'about me' turned into 'about Sitter Spot'...</div><div>Conclusion- I love helping families and working with children. Other loves- yoga, art, dancing, picnics...</div>
