I am a marine biologist and educator studying whales and plastic pollution in the ocean

As a biologist I am interested in how the physical and biological environment impacts and influences animal populations. In 2014 I started a study looking at the distribution of debris, mainly plastics, in the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary so that we can better understand the degree of risk to the whales that feed in this area every summer. I will be joining eXXpedition Ascension, an all female scientific voyage, as a scientist in November to study plastics and biodiversity.
