Reconnecting humans and nature for over 25 years!

Founded in 1987 in East Aurora, N.Y. by Loretta Jones, Hawk Creek Wildlife Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to creating understanding and knowledge of the natural world and its relationship to humankind through wildlife rehabilitation, education, and conservation.

It began as a small backyard rehabilitation center to provide environmental lessons to the founder’s children. Initial facilities were very limited, yet, from the beginning, the center attracted a growing number of dedicated volunteers interested in helping injured wildlife. Over time the reputation of the center spread, and Hawk Creek began to gain recognition for its expertise across the nation. The center rapidly grew into a staff of trained volunteers, including ten fully licensed wildlife rehabilitators, and over 40 assistant rehabilitators trained and licensed through Hawk Creek. Thousands of animals, many injured through indirect or direct contact with humans, have since been rehabilitated at Hawk Creek and released back into their natural environments.

The rising demand of wildlife in need inspired Hawk Creek to serve as the community’s educational resource and provide much needed information on the growing interface between humankind and the natural environment. In 1991, Hawk Creek became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and has since grown into an accredited wildlife sanctuary home to over 80 non-releasable animals from around the world. These animals serve as ambassadors for their kind, providing unique wildlife encounters and compelling messages for environmental goodwill.

For over 20 years Hawk Creek’s dedication to its mission has remained strong, while our community impact has persistently grown stronger. We passionately strive to be the catalyst for positive change through our excellence in animal care, educational services, and by fostering an appreciation for wildlife from around the globe.
