Love life.

My name is Sonia Preisser and I am 26 years old. Although I am originally from Mexico City, Mexico, I truly identify myself as a global citizen. I grew up with the Japanese culture as I attended a Japanese school in Mexico, and have been fortunate enough to live in a number of countries from Australia to Germany since the age of 15. I am fluent in Spanish, German and English, with knowledge in Japanese and French, along a very basic Swahili and Maasai. I hold a BA in International Relations from Richmond, the American International University in London, and a MA in Development Studies from the University of Sydney.

I have had the opportunity of working with a number of organisations including Greenpeace Australia Pacific where I interned with the GE Campaign, and the Oaktree Foundation, a youth-led development agency in Australia. More recently I had the opportunity of participating with One Heart Source’s grassroots work in Tanzania towards educating people about HIV/AIDS, and implementing local projects. Currently I am the Co-Founder of MomoEffect, a Social Enterprise that focuses on youth empowerment around the world.

We aim to create global opportunities for the execution of longterm projects that link bottom-up & top-down approaches in development. This done through the implementation of youth oriented policy and projects, which seek to address problems at the root, for the achievement of a sustainable future for all. I have also been selected as one of the 30 delegates to take part in the 2013 Antarctica Ambassador Programme, where we will join Robert Swan and 2041 in the International Antarctica Expedition.

Besides trying to pitch in wherever I can, I love pausing to notice the beauty the world has to offer, usually I do this through a camera lens. I am also an avid Rugby union fan, who enjoys meditating, doing yoga and learning about the Buddhist way of life.
