Presented by Sally Kettle - The first woman to have rowed across the Atlantic - twice!

With no rowing experience and certainly no sea-going experience, Sally took to the oars in her ocean rowing boat, Calderdale, in 2003. She was joined by an unlikely partner, Sarah Kettle, her mother. 105 days later they were the worlds first mother and daughter to row an ocean, the UK’s first female pair and Sarah the first grandmother to row across the Atlantic.

In 2005 she founded Rowgirls.com an all female rowing team set to break the record for the fastest Atlantic crossing. The team of four were struck by disaster when a crewmate left the boat. The rudder fell off in the the worst weather in 200 yrs of recorded history and the boat was attacked by a shark. Not willing to give up Sally and her crew still made it to Antigua 77 days later, becoming the first 3-handed boat to row any ocean.
