Jennifer Lorenzo

A My-Size Barbie with a kung fu kick!

It all started with a scratch and sniff Bible. Well, okay, a monologue about scratch and sniff Bibles. That's when 10-year-old Jenny decided she wanted to make a career out of making people laugh.

"You'll suffer with Jonah, the aroma of a whale with heartburn. Don't laugh folks! Have you ever seen a 60-pound Rolaids?"

From the awkward, brace faced girl to the woman (who is commonly confused for a teen) today, Jenny has loved creating her own material. Sure, she's not your average Broadway-esque triple threat, but she sure as heck wears a lot of hats. Writing, Directing, Film editing, Graphic & Web design are some of the many things she dedicates a lot of her time to. (Who needs tap shoes when you've got a computer full of footage to cut? Eh?) This multi-passioned way of being is what got her noticed by Ground Up & Rising--A critically acclaimed professional theatre company in South Florida. After two years of dedicating herself to the company as an intern, she became an official member in 2009 making her the youngest. Her first time on stage with the company was in their production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot where she played the memorable role of Matthias of Galilee.

Jenny soon became involved with countless projects thereafter. She was part of a successful run at the Miami Children's Museum with a show entitled, Standing on your Head, Thinking on your Feet--an improv show specifically designed for children. And speaking of the little ones, she taught improv to kids ages 6-14 through the teaching artist programs run by Arts for Learning and ArtSouth. As an official member, her latest performances were in The Pillowman, which was especially well received in Miami Beach's Sleepless Night 2009 and Othello for Shakespeare in the Park Miami as Emilia. She also played the role of Texting Tyra in the film, Culture Shocked--"A short created by Ground Up & Rising with assistance from the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and its CultureShockMiami.com".

Graduating from the University of Miami with a double major in 2011, she was happy to have been the only female to receive the Outstanding Sketch Comedy award at the AERho 62nd Annual Student Entertainment and Media Awards Show for three years in a row. Jenny was also awarded Achievement in Directing for her short film, Moon on Earth at the Canes Film Festival 2011.

Jenny is now the host and co-producer of Aggressive Comix Presents: Geekgasm. A show that discusses all things geek from movie reviews to uninhibited dancing.
