When trying to pursue acting professionally, I learned that I was too Mexican to be American and too American to be Mexican. Representation is great, but stereotypes aren't. I'm pursuing writing because I wanna use my unique voice to write stories about characters that are multi-layered, multi-faceted, flawed, hilarious, self-destructive, and they also happen to be brown...AND GAY! Because brown characters don't always have to sell drugs or deal with their crazy abuela. But we love our abuelas.
