My work reflects a humanitarian concern for children and the neglected histories of Black people worldwide.
I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio to an African-American mother and Vietnamese father. The balance of these two cultures within the framework of my American upbringing shaped my world view. In my early 20s I began to pursue a path to filmmaking. Cleveland State University gave me a wonderful academic experience, followed by a life-changing Fulbright Grant in Ethiopia. My work reflects a humanitarian concern for children and the neglected histories of Black people worldwide.
