Writer, Director, Filmmaker

Empty Attic Studios began as the brainchild of Michael Newsham and Rob McFee, two friends who were, at the time, teachers. Both men were writers, performers, musicians, and artists, and their combined skills seemed synergistic, so they decided to start a creative collective.

The concept of the Empty Attic is one of pregnant pauses and bated breath, of empty rooms full of possibility. The duo wrote a few scripts, drew some comics, but life kept getting in the way, and the Empty Attic sat in an empty attic.

Then Michael had a brainwave and wrote a script for a television pilot called "Hangfire." Currently filming for release as a feature, the film is intended to eventually transition into a regular series. Michael's sarcasm, wit, and pain were all evident in the script.

The script attracted other creatives, and the Hangfire project was born. 2012 has been a labor of love for all of those involved, from the cast and crew to the producers who've signed their lives away. The journey has really just begun.

Empty Attic Studios produced and released a music video for Philadelphia vocalist Michael Chance's "The Captain's Daughter" also in 2012.
