ambitious motivated creative

Hello I’m Robert Jerrod Brown, the photographer. I am from Hammond, LA but currently attend the University of Louisiana at Monroe, majoring in Computer Information Systems. I would have never seen myself saying that until my senior year at Hammond High in 2009 where I launched my passion for photography. It just kind of happened. A friend of mine convinced me to purchase my first DSLR camera, which was a Nikon D40. Little did I know this was the start of my new career. I joined the yearbook staff later that year and was published for the first time with over 75% of my photos. At this moment, I realized I had a gift of telling stories through my photographs. I pushed myself even further to becoming a better photographer.

From there I decided to enter a photo contest at a high school convention. Not knowing much about photography or how harsh the competition would be, I entered the category of black & white sports photography. My entry was of a young man skating which I froze mid air as he was doing a trick. To my surprise that photo won 2nd place in state. Winning that award was a huge accomplishment, which gave me the confidence needed as a young amateur.

From the beginning I’ve been called on to do various jobs such as birthday parties, upscale events, sports, senior portraits, weddings, maternity portraits, campaign work and even a music video. I would look at myself as an ambitious self-motivated photographer who is willing to get dirty for that great shot. Although I have no previous credentials I have proved to be a contender. I’m constantly re evaluating myself and researching ways to improve. I’ve attended various workshops and done volunteer work to help build my portfolio.

I currently work for the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Student Publication where I hold the position of Photo Editor of the Hawkeye and Chacahoula going on three years. Each week brings a new challenge. As editor it’s my job to make sure the memory is captured whether it be a sporting event, student life, or breaking news story. I make it happen!

I am currently working towards legally forming my own business known as RJBrown Photography. Being a young college entrepreneur presents its challenges but with God at the head of my life I know that all the hard work and dedication I put in will pay off. I've become very passionate about my work and I've put my heart and soul into every single photograph that I've ever taken. Each time I step behind the lens, it is my goal for each picture to be a collaboration of the subjects' elegances, grace, unique style as well as my own perspective. My Craft equals your memories.

List of attributes

- Photoshop skills

- Works well under pressure

- Good eye for shooting

- Dedicated to learning

- Tech savvy

- Leadership

- Punctual
