Emily Monroe
Copan Ruinas, Honduras
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, I am currently teaching 4th grade at a bilingual school in Copan Ruinas, Honduras, my home of the past 2 years. An artist and writer, I love traveling and experiencing as much of life as possible. Currently, I am organizing volunteer efforts to transform an orphanage in the community where I live into a safe, healthy home. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in political science and creative writing, I moved to Guyana where I taught at a remedial high school before returning stateside to manage programs and development for a literacy nonprofit. I am incredibly excited about my work here in Honduras, and I can't wait to see where life takes me next.
