Running For A Cause

I was never a fast runner, neither did I do any distance running until I was 27 years old. Matter of fact I did not know that I had what it took to run a 5k, let alone any kind of distance running.

I had an almost crippling accident in February of 2006 when I got hit by a car and almost had to have my left foot amputated. I had a miraculous recovery and I knew that I was standing and walking for a reason. It however, took me years of contemplation and encouragement by family and friends to muster enough courage to start running.

Once I encorporated running into my life, I was liberated. Running was a personal slice of heaven for me. The euphoria during and after a long run, I cannot describe in words.

Once I was comfortable running longer distances, I thought about expanding the horizon of these runs and started looking into running events around me. It did not take me long to find out that the "long runs" that I was doing was not so long for runners after all. However, this fact only helped me get motivated for running longer and continue running for as long as I could.

Resitration for my first half marathon soon followed. Soon I realized that I could turn my hobby into a fundraising effort for people all over the world. I try to run one half marathon or some for of a long run a year for raising funds for causes all over the world.
