<p>Chris was born in 1970 and has been a professional artist since 1988. Chris was a military brat and became a pop-culture-addict after seeing Star Wars 400,000 times at the Base theatre outside of Edmonton, Alberta in 1977.</p> <p>Chris' paintings over the past two decades have depicted his close friends set against the backdrop of malls, fast-food restaurants and 7-Elevens that kids, teens and young adults hang out in every day.</p> <p>Now in his forties he is still trying to understand why 'Bomb-Pops', <em>Mad Magazine</em> and painting pictures is still more compelling than writing wills, drinking sleepy-time-tea and installing vinyl siding.</p> <p>His work has appeared in numerous solo and group shows in Canada and the United States and is held in numerous public and private collections worldwide.</p> <p>His 1997 painting 'McDonald's Nation' has become a symbol for the global anti-consumerism movement and has appeared several times in <em>Adbusters</em> magazine, Naomi Klein's book <em>No Logo </em>and numerous legitimate and guerilla, print and electronic publications worldwide.</p> <p>He won the 2000 <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Gold Award for Illustration</span> at the Canadian National Magazine Awards for his ‘Church of Krispy Kreme’ cover painted for Canada’s <em>Saturday Night</em> Magazine.</p> <p>In 2002 Chris was Artist-in-Residence at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.</p> <p>He has painted album covers for Barenaked Ladies, SNOG and Vancouver Punk Band The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets.</p> <p>He is currently represented by Gallery Jones in Vancouver, BC.</p> <p>He lives and works in Chilliwack, BC with his wife and son.</p> <p> </p>
