Abbas Abbood grew up in a barbershop in Sadr City, Baghdad. Soon after the war began, he emigrated to Egypt where he worked as an actor in films and theater. Then he came to the United States to which he was just granted citizenship. Abbas has been exploring how people cope amidst political conflict though a project called “Bicycle Barbershop” in which he gives free haircuts, filming the relaxed conversational encounter of his itinerant barbershop.
