The Akron Civic Theatre, an historical and vibrant nonprofit cultural arts center in downtown Akron, enriches the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds throughout the region by presenting a diverse array of local and national performing artists and community events. The opulent, atmospheric theater opened in 1929 as a Loew's movie house and became the Akron Civic Theatre in 1965. The Civic today is one of Akron's treasured architectural and historic gems.
