I am a writer and artist, and director of Free River Press, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Incorporated in 1991, FRP's mission is to document life in America through writing workshops that I conduct around the country for people without literary ambition. Thus far FRP has published 26 titles. In the late 1980s I wrote weekly column and features for the Chicago Tribune. I have written plays for Chicago theaters, including the legendary Organic Theater. and the San Quentin Drama Workshop.
