I am the author of more than sixty books, for both young readers and adults.

How you know me (if you know me at all) probably depends on who you are and/or what you like to read. If you're a teenager or like to read YA fiction, you might recognize me from novels such as Z, Suicide Notes, or the Circle of Three series that I wrote under the name Isobel Bird. If gay-themed fiction is your interest, you may have read my novels What We Remember, The Road Home, Full Circle, or Changing Tides (among others). And if you enjoy Jane Austen, you might have encountered my Jane-as-modern-day-vampire trilogy consisting of Jane Bites Back, Jane Goes Batty, and Jane Vows Vengeance. Or perhaps you've run across one of my numerous nonfiction books, like The Path of the Green Man, It's Not Mean If It's True, and The Voices of AIDS.

Then there's the infamous middle grade romance Puppy Love, which I wrote as Jenny Collins. But that's supposed to be a secret.

In short, I write books. All kinds of books. When I'm not writing, my passions include cold water scuba diving, dog rescue, and making stuff.
