sustainability, Haiti, SOIL (www.oursoil.org), Holy Crap!, music, film
My name is Jenny "Jup" Benorden, and I live and work in Oakland, California. I am a multi-disiciplinary artist, working in the fields of film, music, writing, and performance. In addition, I have been working in the field of wellness, having practiced therapeutic massage for the past 15 years, and also more recently moving into nutrition and skin-care. <br><div><br></div><div>My experience in production began in the Public Access Television arena, where I and my co-producer Zara Zimbardo produced 12 award-winning programs on different topics having to do with environmental and social justice. We made programs on topics ranging from the California Prison Industry, the corporate ownership of the media (and its implications on a functioning Democracy), Palestine, a history of Haiti, Oil Consumption (a history of U.S. oil consumption and its impact on global stabilization), and on SOIL's work in Haiti.</div><div><br></div><div>This latest film project is very exciting for me, as I've been wanting to tell SOIL's story in a light-spirited way that would hopefully make the concept of composting toilets fun to engage in, exciting to see, leaving people with a sense of hope, that "wow, so many of the world's problems can be solved - with a toilet??"</div>
