EGE's story

JDV here, founder and President of Evil Genius Entertainment. The first two films I ever saw were NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and DRACULA with Bela Lugosi. They must have made an impact on me, 'cause I've
been trying to make scary movies ever since.

I formed a film company while still in film school with some friends, and ended up making a full length kung fu flick DEADEYE, which eventually was sold to much of Europe and Asia. That company blossomed into Evil Genius Entertainment, Michigan's longest established indie movie production firm. As EGE, I've produced 3 full length horror films, WITCHUNTER, LIVING DEAD WORLD, and my latest film VAMPIRELAND.

While I'm the executive producer, I'm also the director, photographer, and composer for most projects. Other frequent contributors include production designer/artist Kevin "Gunz" James, CG special effects guru Matt "The Crow" Cash, editor/compositor Brad "Deafula" Torreano, production designer and 1st AD Bob "The B.O.B." Felts, special effect makeup master Eric "Hooligan" Jaan plus a host of other extremely talented, passionate people who love making movies and also have wacky nick names (like Misty "Roller Gurl" Mills).

VAMPIRELAND is currently one of the world's most popular horror movies, ranked as high as 405 by IMDB. It's also one of the most illegally downloaded movies - can't win them all....

Now we're embarking on our latest attempt to scare the world with XENOMORPH, a tale of 5 people trying to survive the wraith of a stranded alien being bent on revenge. If successful with our funding, we plan on shooting starting in fall 2012 with a release date of March 2013.

We remain passionate about our craft and believe that we can continue to make effective, scary films with limited resources.
