Women Artists, Techies and Tinkerers
<p>MzTEK is a nonprofit collective with the aim of encouraging women artists to pick up technical skills in the fields of new media, computer arts, and technology.</p> <p>Based in London and supported by Hackney arts institution <a href="http://www.spacemedia.org.uk/" target="_blank">[ space ]</a>, we host a range of <a href="http://www.mztek.org/workshops/">workshops</a>, talks, and <a href="http://www.mztek.org/peer-meet/">tinker sessions</a>.</p><p><br></p><p>Because we’re keen to provide a curriculum based on the needs and wants of the community, we host a <a href="http://www.mztek.org/wish-list">“Wish List”</a> — an open forum where you can post which classes you would love to take either to nurture your artistry, career, and curiosity.</p><p><br></p> <p>Why not join our <a href="http://mztek.org/mailman/listinfo/allsubscribers_mztek.org">mailing list</a>, if you’re keen to keep up with our doings? We’ll keep you notified of our upcoming workshops and events.</p> <h2>Organizers</h2> <p><em>Sophie McDonald </em>is a media artist, freelance producer, video editor, and software developer. Her work includes the online programming platform <a title="Sketch Patch" href="http://www.sketchpatch.net/" target="_blank">www.sketchPatch.net</a>.</p><p><br></p> <p><em>Emilie Giles</em> completed her MA at Goldsmiths in Interactive Media: Critical Theory and Practice. She currently works for social video distributors Unruly Media, as a Marketing and Events Co-ordinator.</p><p><br></p> <p><em>Sally Northmore</em> previously worked in New York City in event planning, electronic initiatives and production in publishing. She is currently a web developer at SHOWstudio.com in London.</p><p><br></p> <p><em>Rebecca Stewart</em> is a postdoctoral researcher with the Centre for Digital Music, a research group within the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary, University of London.</p><p><br></p> <p><em>Jane McGrath</em> has worked as an Account Director at Lynne Franks PR along with freelance work high profile PR companies.
