[[classical music on classical instruments]]

Grand Harmonie is an ensemble dedicated to historically-informed performances of music written by composers spanning all the way from Mozart to Brahms, on the instruments for which their music was written.

The core of Grand Harmonie consists of wind and brass players who hail from the Boston and New York areas, performing regularly in both cities.

Grand Harmonie's musicians perform works by composers from the classical period and beyond. Our concerts range from intimate salon-style events, at which guests can hear solo and chamber works by such greats as Schumann, Brahms, Wagenseil, Mozart, and many others; to larger-scale performances of wind octets, orchestral pieces, and more.

Rather than performing on modern instruments, Grand Harmonie uses period classical instruments, which look and sound different than those used in your typical orchestra! This enables us to present the works of the masters as they would have sounded when they were first performed, in the courts and houses of the great Arts patrons of the classical period.
