Aside from having read and lectured in all my courses, on the history and impact of race as a product of the economic construction of a slave-based economy , I earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in Liberal Arts and Science with a concentration in Economics and hold a Master’s degree in Sociology from DePaul University. <br> <br> I have held a number of local educational activist posts intimately linked to various under-served communities including having held several teaching and educational advocacy posts including ones as a research assistant, assistant teaching, teacher’s aide, teaching apprenticeship, and Americorps service learning-based teaching positions at DePaul’s Center for Community Research, New City YMCA Child development center, Tuesday’s Child, Gallery 37 Chicago Summer Arts Program, and Wells High School, respectively. I have been a interning staff member at Chicago Legal Advocacy for Incarcerated Mothers, an outreach worker and life-skills trainer at the Salvation Army, and a Graduate Staff Professional/Teaching Assistant in the Office of Academic Enhancement at DePaul University's Discover Chicago program. I served as an invited faculty and sole adjunct organizing committee member as well as a panelist for the City College of Chicago's district-wide seminar on poverty (“The Persistence of Poverty”, April 2009), filmed for the Colleges' public access station, WYCC. <br> <br> Additionally, I recently co-curating a month-long series of panels and performances on the relationship between fine arts and capitalism, entitled, “To Art and Profit: Creative Labor, Collective Action and Conscientious Capitalism”, and am co-facilitating an upcoming workshop co-sponsored by Chicago's Mercy Hospital and themed, “SHE TALK: Demystifying the Body,” which is for urban adolescent girls and their mothers, and utilizes creative movement and writing as wellness practices.</span>
