María Teresa “Mariposa” Fernández is an award-winning Bronx born Puerto Rican AfroLatinx poet, educator, feminist writer and performance artist. Mariposa’s performance work has been featured on the critically acclaimed HBO Latino series, “Habla Ya!, the HBO documentary Americanos: Latino Life in the U.S., BET and PBS. Mariposa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies with a Concentration in English Literature and a Master’s Degree in Education from New York University.
