<p>There was no electricity in the mountains of Laos,<br />where Kak Lee was born. His father passed away<br />when he was six, and his mother managed to get him<br />and his brother to the refugee camps in Thailand shortly after.<br />It took three years of proving to the United Nations that his<br />father helped the Americans during the Vietnam War before<br />they were finally chosen to come to the United States.<br /><br />Mr. Lee's interest in film making started at the age of 12,<br />a year before his mother passed away. He began as a<br />camera operator for a local cable access television station in Merced, CA. Although he has worked almost every position since, from videographer to editor to producer. His passion<br />has always been in cinematography.<br /><br />Mr. Lee holds BA in Film Studies from Minnesota State University Moorhead and MFA in Cinematography from Chapman University. He has experience shooting on both film and digital, and has shot narrative and documentary films.</p>
