<p>Rebekah A. Frimpong is a filmmaker, poet, mentor, and community activist. Rebekah has a varied background in the arts and sciences she has been doing outreach work in communities for over 10 years. She has facilitated and created mentoring projects and successful educational programs in the US and in Africa. Two years ago she made a documentary film called “HER” documenting five young women going after their dreams. Since then she has worked on film projects in Haiti and New York city under her production company BGNB (Black Girl Named Becky) Productions, which she started in 2006 as a creative think tank. Rebekah uses BGNB Productions as hub for ideas on creative ways to engage the community in positive endeavors. In 2007, Rebekah and Vinita Acklin started a non-profit organization called RWUL that use art of filmmaking as outreach tool in the community by hosting film screenings, film festivals, and more use film as a platform for having discussion about cross-cultural awareness and community outreach.
