Courtney Rowe

Los Angeles, California, United States

Courtney worked many late nights cutting negatives with a pen knife while grooving to Dusty Springfield, and using delicious baked goods to bribe her college roommates to star in her short films back in the 1990s. It all paid off when she earned her film degree from the University of Southern California in 1996 and put her finely honed skills to work as a Second Assistant Director on the television series “Cougar Town,” “Scrubs,” "Dirt,” and "Leverage” among many others.

In 2002, Courtney wrote and directed the audience award-winning short film “On the Outs,” which was shown at festivals around the globe, including San Francisco, New York, Paris and Tokyo. In 2007 she dipped her toes even further into the directing pool by working on two webseries. “3Way,” a narrative comedy, won a NewNowNext Award for Best Webseries, Special Selection – Audience Favorite award at the Chicago Reeling Film Festival, and a 2008 Visibility Award. Courtney also directed “In The Land Of Cocktails,” a look the heady beverage and food culture of post-Katrina New Orleans.

Courtney has written four scripts, and is currently working on the romantic comedy “Abercrombie & Frank.” It’s the tale of an overweight, offbeat, oddball who can’t fit into his jeans, but manages to fit in and find love in the most unlikely place.

When she’s not working on film, television and internet projects, you can find her enjoying her favorite vintage. In 2004, Courtney took a wrong turn off the freeway, settled in partially-sunny Oregon and worked at a winery. In between stomping grapes Courtney published articles in magazines for snobby wine people. She put her taste for grapes to good use by becoming a Certified Sommelier with the International Sommelier Guild.

Courtney likes to spend the little free time she has writing, collecting new stamps in her passport and driving her classic car.
