An actor acts...therefore, an actor is an activist.
Joanie Fritz Zosike has had an artistic voyage of many twists and turns. She was born into a family of artists. Her parents were both professional symphony musicians. Her first sortie into the arts was at age 4, singing in a pops concert that her father participated in every summer. Her first love was singing, and she studied classical music and built a contemporary musical theatre repertoire before branching out to composing and songwriting. She moved on to writing for theatre, ending up in New York City where she met The Living Theatre, and the rest is history. She has been honored to work with Judith Malina and the late Hanon Reznikov for 25 years, which has been a crash course in avant-garde, experimental, political theatre, as well as accelerated Life.

In 1996, with Living Theatre colleague Lois Kagan Mingus, Joanie co-founded Action Racket Theatre. The dynamic duo has performed and presented workshops in the five boroughs for toddlers, children, teens, adults, elderly, and people with disabilities of all ages. In addition to preparing work for the upcoming film documentary about Beth Abraham and Young At Art, Joanie recently wrote her fourth play, RelationShifts, which she is preparing for production in 2011-2012. She is also completing a science-fantasy novel and a collection of poems. With Mort Kroos, Joanie has been co-director of DADAnewyork (a dada-surrealist theatre company) since 1986.
