She has been and will be writing for her whole life. She founded Cowardly Kiss Theatre in 2006 in order to produce her work at the Edmonton Fringe, and has since written, directed, and/or produced seven plays both in a festival and fully independent context: B (2007); Sylvie (2008); She Came From Planet X! (2009); 00:00AM (Zero Ante Meridiem) (2009); BUNBURYING (which was also written as her Master's thesis) (2011); (Real) Gone (Girl) (2011); and Night Time, which opened Cowardly Kiss' inaugural season in November 2011. In addition to drama, she writes short fiction and non-fiction; she has been published in Freefall (Calgary), Odeum (Brampton), and on Suite101.com, where she was a contributing writer from 2008-2010. Her work has been nominated for a number of awards, including the Alberta Writer’s Guild awards and the national Journey Prize (2009). In 2011, she started her own freelance writing company, Comma Dot Dash. In her free time, Andrea likes to sing at the top of her lungs in her car (or anywhere, really), read, and watch British TV. She has two puppies, Oscar Wilde Beça and Lucille Ball Beça, with whom she loves spending any and all of her time. Though she’s not one to get star struck, Andrea knows she would lose her cool if she met any of the following people: Tom Waits, Oscar Wilde (once time travel is invented), Belle and Sebastian, and Prince.
