I am a teacher.
I teach at New Village Charter School. My students are faced with the challenges of poverty, pregnancy, parenting, probation, abuse, and/or foster care. They are strong, smart, and driven. My students call me, "Miss." With this name comes many roles. I have my girls for four and a half hours a day for four years. We are like family, so my role constantly changes from teacher, to mentor, to friend, to parent, to big sister. Every day is a challenge, but seeing my students grow makes it worth it.
