Branton was born and raised in Hong Kong, where he showed early interest in filmmaking. He later went to Los Angeles for secondary school, gaining extensive experience in film production. He directed two short films, Jenny and About Time: the latter won an Award of Merit from Accolade Global Film Competition. Branton studies in New York University where he produces ambitious indie and student shorts in various size and scope, such as Cookie Heart, Come Eat with Me, and Donnybrook.
