In 1918 Cecil Sharp and Maude Karpeles travelled to Appalachia and collected over 1500 folk songs from remote rural communities. These songs were passed down via the oral tradition so Cecil and Maude recorded the songs ensuring their survival. Now 100 years later 29 artists have created artwork based on the songs collected in Appalachia. Celebrating Cecil and Maude, the songs and the golden thread that connects our two nations.
