<div><!--StartFragment--> <p><strong>The Maggie Tree </strong>is an independent, Edmonton-based theatre company whose mandate is to support the development and visibility of women in creative leadership roles in the arts. The company was launched in 2007 by professional actors Kristi Hansen and Vanessa Sabourin, and has produced five Canadian productions, three of which were new scripts (Beth Graham, Trevor Schmidt, and Jill Connell). The Maggie Tree has won three Sterling awards for Outstanding Independent Production (<em>A Life in the Day</em>; <em>Folie à Deux; </em>and<em> Hroses: An Affront to Reason</em>); A Sterling Nomination for Outstanding Independent Production (<em>Shatter</em>); Sterling nominations for the work by individual artists involved: Outstanding New Work (Jill Connell – <em>Hroses: An Affront to Reason</em>); Outstanding Set Design (Tessa Stamp – <em>Hroses: an Affront to Reason</em>); Outstanding Sound Design/Composition (Aaron Macri – <em>Hroses: An Affront to Reason</em>);Outstanding Performance by an Actress (Shannon Blanchet – <em>Shatter</em>), Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (Sandra Nicholls – <em>Shatter</em>), Outstanding New Work (Beth Graham – <em>A Life in the Day</em>), Outstanding Direction (Sandra Nicholls – <em>Folie à Deux</em>), and Outstanding Performance by an Actress (Vanessa Sabourin – <em>Folie à Deux</em>).
