<!--StartFragment--> <p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-pagination:none;mso-layout-grid-align:none; text-autospace:none"><span style="font-size:13.0pt;font-family:Arial; color:#1F1F1F">Yvonne Michelle Shirley was born and raised in the wilds of northern New Jersey. As an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, Yvonne prepared for a career in medicine, but after a filmmaking course with documentarian Louis Massiah (Eyes on the Prize), she discovered a new way to examine the living. Shortly after graduation, Yvonne was accepted to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts prestigious graduate film program.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:13.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:#1F1F1F">At NYU, Yvonne honed her talent and skills under the tutelage of great filmmakers, including Spike Lee, Sam Pollard, and other lifelong students of cinema. Inspired by social realist storytelling, Yvonne became focused on the quiet drama in humanity, looking to tell stories of ordinary folks willing themselves to make extraordinary choices. Yvonne's work has garnered various awards, including a Fox Television Scholarship, and a Tisch School of the Arts Department Fellowship.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Her short films have been viewed at festivals around the country such as Slamdance and Urban World. Her recent work on documentaries such as Spike Lee's <i>If God is Willing and da Creek Don’t Rise</i></span><span style="font-size:13.0pt; font-family:Arial;color:#1F1F1F">, and Michael Moore's <i>Capitalism: A Love Story</i></span><span style="font-size:13.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:#1F1F1F">, has increased her passion for examining life’s conflicts through cinema, in both narrative and documentary formats.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>In addition to preparing to shoot her NYU thesis project for which she has been awarded a Warner Brothers Production Grant, Yvonne is currently producing the Sundance supported documentary, <i>25 To Life</i></span><span style="font-size:13.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:#1F1F1F">.</span><span style="font-family:Arial"><o:p></o:p></span></p> <!--EndFragment-->
