scientist, teacher, and father

I am a physicist and mathematician, and I teach physics, mathematics, and engineering at Olin College of Engineering. I am interested in improving how we teach mathematics and science. In 2010, MIT Press published my first book, Street-Fighting
Mathematics: The Art of Educated Guessing and Opportunistic Problem
Solving. I am writing a popular version, Numbersight: A Street-Fighting Mathematician Teaches How to Make Better Decisions.

I have two daughters, and live in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and spend my spare time learning enough German to speak it to my daughters, and enough law to help protect Long Wharf Park, my favorite place in Boston.
