The Tao of Pooh
I remember the first time I realized that there was beauty in everything around me. I would collect flowers and leaves on the property where I grew up. When I felt I had a sizable variety I would bring them into the house and spread my bounty on the kitchen table. My grandfather would help me identify each piece of the treasures I had chosen.

The best part was deciding how I wished to memorialize these beauties and I had several ways to choose from. My clearest memory is the first time I ironed Lantana blossoms flat between two pieces of wax paper. I thought this was the most wonderful thing in the world to give me a flower that I could hold in my hand long after they stopped blooming. When the flower absorbed the heat from the iron, I remember it smelled just like peanut butter. How lovely is that? When my grandparents finally passed away, my brother told me that as they packed the books from the library small leaves and pressed flowers rained down on them from the pages of almost every book..

Maddie's Loves

I am still that same little girl.
