Founder of the longest hiking trail system built in the eastern United States in decades -- the Cohos Trail. Founder of The Cohos Trail Association, an all volunteer (and that means everybody) organization dedicated to building long-distance trails and all sorts of trail infrastructure. Designer and builder of lean-tos, warming huts, tent platforms, kiosks, puncheon spans (bog bridges), composting latrines, foot bridges, signage, and other trail infrastructure. Dedicated to exposing people to the vast tracts of wilderness lands in New England that need to be protected from development. Facilitator of the link between U.S. and Canadian trail system. Author of recent hiking guides, including 50 Hikes North of the White Mountains, and The Cohos Trail, The Guide to New Hampshire's Great Unknown. Organizer of a small camp community farm at Camp Glen Brook in Marlborough, NH, designed to provide the majority of the foods for campers, guests, school groups, and attendees at social functions all year round. Caregiver of severely developmental disabled young people for more than a decade. A member of various trail organization boards dedicated to maintaining parks and trails.
