Ricky Daugherty

Summersville, Missouri, United States

My name is Ricky Daugherty, and I am 50 years old, a Christian, and I am educated in Electric Motor and Generator design and repair, and also educated in Mechanical and Software Engineering. At present, I have a total of 5-years of college education. I am the inventor and owner of AMPGen, a small business that is currently developing the AMPGen prototype, with the future goal of mass production and creating desperately needed employment in Texas County, near Summersville, Missouri.

I am currently unemployed since I was laid off some time ago as an IBM AS/400 Information Systems Programmer/Analyst. I am living in an area that is very economically depressed making it impossible for me to find work in this area. Therefore, money to develop this project has diminished quickly. I do not receive any unemployment or any other source of income, and so far the only investors I have received were a couple of my relatives who invested $3,000.00 to purchase needed machinery and raw materials to get me started.

Prior to my nearly 20-year career as an IBM AS/400 Programmer/Analyst, I worked for Foote Mineral Company as a plant electrician. Prior to being a plant electrician at Foote Mineral Company, I worked in an Electric Motor Rewind shop.
With all that experience along with my College training in Motor Design and Mechanical Engineering, I was very familiar with how motors and generators worked, when, one day I was watching a video from the Mid-Missouri Renewable Energy Center created by Larry Rice and Thom Day, and saw a project Thom Day was working on where he was trying to accomplish complete motor rotation using just permanent magnets alone, however, his idea, while making some progress, was unsuccessful. He could only obtain just a few revolutions before his generator would come to a complete stop. Thom even added a flywheel that added a couple of revolutions before stopping.

On that video, Thom challenged the viewers that if someone could get those permanent magnets to work, there would be an untapped source of free energy produced. I took that as my challenge, and asked myself what would it take to get what he was unsuccessfully trying to do, to actually work? That is where this project comes in with my solution to that challenge.
