There's nothing stranger than the truth

A competent self shooter with strong communication skills and practical shooting and sound recording experience here and abroad with V1/Z1/PD150s and editing on FCP. I am a creative self starter with a deep interest in observational/social documentaries and a background in factual television. A degree in Social Anthropology which involved conducting ethnographic research and projects on social groups informs my work and continues to be an interest.

Ok that’s the blurb at the beginning of my CV…In the past few years I have worked in the television industry at Assistant Producer level and I recently decided to leave TV and do more freelance film making, working on projects I truly believed in and creating my own work when funds allowed.

I love that documentary gives you the freedom to be a complete nosey parker! To be able to delve into peoples lives and stories and to ask those questions you’d never usually dream of asking someone you’ve just met. In the last few months I’ve found myself making a surrelist film with a clown in an overgrown graveyard, talking to an old Jamaican man about his part in getting everyone dancing to reggae over here, hanging out with ex street kids in Kathmandu and attending dusk till dawn wild Brazilian participatory theatre performances – all in the name of a good story. Good characters are the stuff of life for me – they stay with you long after you’ve met them and the desire to record their stories and idiosyncrasies is what drives me.
