Artistic Director of Progressive Theatre Workshop
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 14.0px Helvetica;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px;">John holds a BA in Theatre with an emphasis in performance from Arizona State University where he studied with acclaimed theatre director Marshall W. Mason and partook in several resident workshops with Anne Bogart and The SITI Company. In 2009, he served as an intern for Richard Foreman and Ontological Hysteric Theatre in New York City. He and PTW are the recipients of a grant from p.a.v.e., the arts entrepreneurship program of The ASU School of Theatre and Film as well as a grant from The Arizona Commission on the Arts. His work has been presented at The Theatres at 45 Bleecker Street in NYC as part of The New York International Fringe Festival, Desert Rose Theatre, The Mesa Arts Center, Chyro Arts Venue, and at Space 55 Theatre as part of The Phoenix Fringe Festival. In 2008 and 2009, two additional new works written and directed by John will be premiered in Phoenix including Closet Drama, a dissection of the gay experience framed by the preaching of hate by Fred Phelps, Shirley Phelps-Roper and The Westboro Baptist Church's <a href="http://www.godhatesfags.com"><span style="text-decoration: underline; letter-spacing: 0.0px;">www.godhatesfags.com</span></a>, as well as Eat Your Peas/DIE DIE DIE, a newly devised retelling of Georg Buchner's Woyzeck.</span></p>
