Despair is NOT an option!
For a little over a year now I have chaired Coffee Party LA, which is a founding organization of the MLK coalition for Jobs, Justice and Peace. Both organizations have active campaigns focusing on housing rights, energy/environment, campaign finance reform, education and other social justice issues. We hold regular bank demonstrations and educational efforts, lobby our reps and officials on all levels of government and work/stand with our neighbors.

I'm a legislative/policy geek and I wholly appreciate the fact that our organizations are nonpartisan too, because I consider myself an equal opportunity critic. I've been writing about politics since 2001 and I have a fierce appetite for facts and figures - so, obviously I read A LOT. I'm also a big fan of talk radio and even worked on a local program as an associate producer a few years back.

Additional little fun facts:
I grew up in the mountains of Colorado, lived in Europe for 4 years and I'm a kitty-freak; hence my pen name, Progressive Mews.
