<p>Shelagh Carter is a filmmaker who lives and works in Winnipeg, New York, and Los Angeles. She is a Lifetime Member of The Actors Studio as an Actress and Director, and Associate Professor of Theatre and Film at the University of Winnipeg and a recent graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s Directors Lab in Toronto. Early in her film career, Shelagh founded Casting in Stone Inc. to provide Casting Director services in film and television. As a director, Shelagh has created work for ten years. <span class="caps">NIGHT</span> <span class="caps">TRAVELLERS</span>, her third short film, was a National Screen Institute Drama Prize winner in 2007. Currently, Shelagh has completed her dance film <span class="caps">RESOLVE</span> and is in post-production with the experimental narrative short <span class="caps">CANOE</span>. Her 35 mm short, <span class="caps">ONE</span> <span class="caps">NIGHT</span>, screened June 2nd, 2009 in Toronto, as part of the Canadian Film Centre’s Short Dramatic Film (<span class="caps">SDF</span>) series. Shelagh has two feature films in development including <span class="caps">HELLO</span>, <span class="caps">DARLING</span>; the story of Sarah, an 11-year-old girl, forcing her family to come to terms with her mother’s increasing mental instability; and <span class="caps">THE</span> <span class="caps">SHOOTING</span> <span class="caps">PARTY</span>, a prairie film noir. She is a recent recipient of the award, Women In the Director’s Chair Career Advancement Module 2010, in collaboration with Women in Film Festival Vancouver.</p>
